Golden Rice

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups long grain white rice, washed
  • garlic powder, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • salt to taste
  • 4 cups chicken stock

  1. Melt the butter in a pot (4qt minumum). Add the washed rice and let it cook in the butter over medium heat 5-7 minutes, stirring often, until some of the rice gets golden brown. In the last minute or two of toasting the rice, add the turmeric, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix to make sure everything is evenly coated.
  2. Add the chicken stock. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover, and cook 20 minutes. After the 20 minutes, without lifitng the lid, turn off the heat and let it sit 10 more minutes.
  3. Fluff with a fork and enjoy.

  1. I made this on a whim and didn’t realize I was missing some ingredients until I started cooking, so I had to make some substitutions. based on others’ suggestions on instagram I also added some cinnamon. This rice turned out delicious and I can’t wait to go grocery shopping and try it as intended by the original recipe!

  2. I have made this rice twice, but thought about it a million times since. It is so tasty, can pair with almost anything, or just be eaten alone. Will be an absolute staple in my life moving forward:

  3. This rice has got to be the tastiest yet the simplest rice to make. It has been a part of my repertoire since I discovered that TT video. Can you doctor it and add more to it? Sure, but why? It’s perfect the way it is.
